Isabel Haslam, born in Kingston-upon-Thames, England, now lives with her husband and their Golden Retriever in Burlington.
She has developed her art through many courses and workshops in different styles and media, at the Scarborough Art Guild, at the London Art Gallery, in Montreal, at the Dundas Valley School of Art, with the Burlington Fine Arts Association and at the Art Gallery of Burlington. Isabel is a founding member of the Canadian Glaze Oil Society and a member of the Burlington Fine Arts Association at the Art Gallery of Burlington. In addition, she volunteers with the Burlington Fine Arts Association and participates in other events at the Art Gallery of Burlington.
Isabel’s work embodies her love of nature. She enjoys expressing the dynamic interplay of light and dark, and the brilliance of colour in nature. Her work has been shown in Scarborough, Georgetown, Dundas, Milton, Tillsonburg, Mississauga and Burlington.
In broadening her skills, Isabel continues to study other facets of art and a variety of subject matter, such as oil and wax media, ink and watercolour, and life drawing. She is currently exploring and developing her technical skills with glaze oil painting. This is supported by workshops with Kathy Bailey and other research. Glaze oil painting techniques have offered Isabel an exciting way to express her love of nature and its wonders. Isabel plans to continue growing in this art form, sharing her joy of art with others through exhibitions and conveying her experiences with glaze oil painting to the general public.
